Who we are
Upfling is a static website hosting service operated by the operator of upfling.host, a sole trader established in the United Kingdom. In these terms, "we", "us" and "Upfling" mean that operator, and "you" means the person or organisation using the service.
By creating a site, creating an account, or paying for a plan, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What the service does
You upload files. We store them and serve them over HTTPS at a subdomain of upfling.site, or at a custom domain you connect on a paid plan.
Hosted sites are static. We serve the files you uploaded, unchanged, exactly as they are. There is no server-side code execution, no database, no form handling and no build step. If your site needs any of those, it needs a different host. Anything dynamic on your site runs in your visitor's browser, not on our servers.
We may change, add to, or withdraw features. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan provides, we will tell you before it takes effect and you may cancel under the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Accounts
You can create a site without an account, but you must sign in to claim it. An unclaimed site is deleted automatically after 24 hours.
Accounts are provided through Clerk, our authentication provider. We do not store your password. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for everything done through your account.
You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account. If you are younger, you may only use Upfling with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.
One person or organisation, one account. Creating additional accounts to get around plan limits is a breach of these terms and of the Acceptable Use Policy.
Your content stays yours
You keep every right you already have in the files you upload. We claim no ownership of them.
To run the service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, cache and transmit your files, solely so that we can serve your site to its visitors, back it up, and scan it as described below. This licence exists only for operating Upfling. We do not use your content to train models, sell it, or publish it anywhere other than your own site. The licence ends when your files are deleted, except for copies in backups or logs that expire on their own schedule.
You confirm that you own or are properly licensed to publish everything you upload, and that publishing it does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law that applies to you. You are the publisher of your site. We are not.
Plans, limits and what we accept
Storage and site limits by plan:
- Free: 1 site, 25 MB, subdomain only, Upfling branding shown on the site
- Lite: 5 sites, 4 GB, custom domain, no branding
- Pro: 25 sites, 10 GB, custom domain, no branding
- Business: 200 sites, 200 GB, custom domain, no branding
Every site is limited to 1,000 files regardless of plan.
We accept web files, documents and images only. That means HTML, CSS and JavaScript, plus common document formats (PDF, Word, spreadsheets, presentations) and a wide range of image formats. We do not accept video or audio files, archives, or executables, and uploads containing them are rejected. Do not plan around hosting media on Upfling.
On the free plan, a small Upfling badge is added to your pages when they are served. Removing, hiding or otherwise defeating that badge on a free-plan site is a breach of these terms. Paid plans have no badge.
Acceptable use
The Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these terms and sets out what you may not host on Upfling. Read it. It is short, specific, and it is what we enforce against.
You also may not: resell Upfling hosting as your own service; use site URLs as a file store or content delivery network for unrelated properties; attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to our systems; or scrape the service in a way that degrades it for others.
Automated scanning and enforcement
This section describes a power we hold over your site. Please read it carefully.
Every site is scanned automatically when it is uploaded, and live sites are re-scanned roughly every 7 days. The scan reads the files you uploaded and looks for technical indicators of abuse.
If the scan finds a high-severity indicator on a live site, that site is suspended immediately and automatically, without prior notice and without a human reviewing it first. Visitors then see a suspension page instead of your site. Lower-severity indicators do not suspend a site on their own, but three or more of them together are treated as a violation.
We do not routinely read your files by hand. We may do so when investigating a report, responding to a legal request, or diagnosing a fault.
Suspension, removal and termination
Where we find a breach, we may take any of the following steps:
- Suspend a site. Visitors see a suspension page. The files are kept and the site can be restored to its previous state if the suspension is lifted.
- Remove a site. The site stops being served and is removed.
- Suspend an account. All of that account's sites are suspended and sign-in is blocked.
- Block an IP address from creating new sites, where abuse is coming from that address repeatedly.
We choose the least disruptive step that addresses the problem, except where content is plainly illegal or dangerous, in which case we act immediately and completely.
Every enforcement action is recorded with a reason and the person or system that took it. Those records are kept indefinitely (see the Privacy Policy).
You may stop using Upfling at any time by deleting your sites and account. We may terminate your account on notice if you repeatedly or seriously breach these terms.
If you think we got it wrong
Suspensions can be wrong, and automated ones especially so. If your site has been suspended and you believe it should not have been, tell us through the reporting form or by emailing abuse@upfling.host. Include the site address and why you think the decision was mistaken.
We aim to decide appeals within 5 working days. If we accept the appeal, the site is restored to the state it was in before the suspension. If we reject it, we will tell you why.
Upfling is run by a small team. We answer appeals as fast as we reasonably can, and we would rather promise a window we can meet than one we cannot.
Custom domains
Paid plans can serve a site at a domain you own. You are responsible for registering that domain, for its DNS configuration, and for having the right to use it.
We automatically reject hostnames that impersonate well-known brands or financial institutions, because they are overwhelmingly used for phishing. This is a blunt check and it will occasionally reject a legitimate name; if it rejects yours, email support@upfling.host.
If your plan lapses, connected domains are paused rather than deleted, and resume when a paid plan is active again.
Payment
Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe, monthly or annually as you choose. Prices are shown on the pricing page. Tax is calculated and added at checkout where it applies.
Cancellation, refunds and what happens to your sites afterwards are covered in the Refund & Cancellation Policy. In short: you keep access until the end of the period you paid for, then have 30 days' grace before sites over the free-plan limit are suspended. They are suspended, not deleted.
If a payment fails we will retry it and email you. If it keeps failing, the plan reverts to free and the same grace period applies.
Pro may be started with a 14-day free trial, once per account. A card is required to start one, nothing is charged during the trial, and it becomes a paid monthly Pro subscription at the end unless you cancel first. A trial that ends without a payment does not get the grace period described above. The account returns to the free plan immediately, and sites over the free-plan limit are suspended rather than deleted.
Availability and warranties
We do not offer a service level agreement. We aim for the service to be available and fast, and it runs on Cloudflare's global network, but we do not guarantee any particular uptime and we do not offer credits for downtime.
The service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude all implied warranties, including of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
You are responsible for keeping your own copies of everything you upload. Do not use Upfling as your only copy of anything you care about.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything here.
Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period or £100.
You are responsible for what you publish. If someone brings a claim against us because of your site, you will cover our reasonable costs in dealing with it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
For changes that materially affect your rights or obligations, we will email account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use Upfling after that means you accept the new terms. If you do not, cancel before the change takes effect and we will refund any unused prepaid period.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where that law gives you it.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
