What you are paying for
The free plan needs no card and costs nothing. Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance through Stripe, either monthly or annually. Annual billing is 20% cheaper than paying monthly.
- Lite: $3.99 / £2.99 / €3.4 per month, 5 sites, 4 GB
- Pro: $6.99 / £4.99 / €5.99 per month, 25 sites, 10 GB
- Business: $18.99 / £13.99 / €16.19 per month, 200 sites, 200 GB
Prices are shown in US dollars, pounds sterling, or euros depending on where you are, and you can switch between them on the pricing page. The currency you check out in is the currency you are billed in for as long as the subscription lasts. Stripe fixes it when the subscription starts and it cannot be changed afterwards.
Prices include any VAT or sales tax that applies, so the total you are shown before confirming is the total you pay.
The 14-day Pro trial
Pro can be started with a 14-day free trial, once per account. We ask for a card at the start so the plan can carry on without interruption, but nothing is charged during the trial.
On day 15 the trial becomes a normal Pro subscription billed monthly, and your card is charged then. Stripe emails you before that happens, and you can cancel at any point during the trial from the billing portal. Cancel and you pay nothing at all.
If the trial ends without a payment, your account returns to the free plan. Sites beyond the free plan's limit are suspended rather than deleted, and any custom domains are paused. Subscribing later restores your plan limits; switching the suspended sites and paused domains back on is something we do by hand, so email support@upfling.host and we will do it.
The trial does not shorten your rights below. Both the statutory cancellation window and our own refund window run from your first payment (the day the trial converts), not from the day the trial started.
Your 14-day right to cancel
If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, the law gives you 14 days from the day you subscribe to change your mind and get your money back, without giving a reason.
If you started on a free trial, that clock runs from the day the trial converted and you were first charged, not from the day the trial began. The two windows happen to be the same length, which is a coincidence rather than a connection: the trial is a free period before any contract to pay begins, and nothing about it uses up the right described here.
There is a catch, and we want it to be visible. That right normally applies to digital services that have not started yet. Because you asked us to start hosting immediately, you are asked at checkout to agree that the service begins straight away, and once it has begun and been fully performed within the 14 days, the statutory right to cancel no longer applies. That is the trade for getting your site live in seconds rather than in a fortnight.
In practice we do not lean on this. See the next section: our own refund window is more generous than the statutory minimum requires us to be, and we would rather refund a dissatisfied customer than argue about which regulation applies.
To exercise a statutory cancellation right, email support@upfling.host with your account email address. A clear statement is enough; there is no form to complete.
Our refund policy
Full refund within 14 days of your first payment on a plan, no questions asked. Email support@upfling.host and we will refund the full amount to the card you paid with. Refunds usually appear within five to ten business days depending on your bank.
After the first 14 days:
- Monthly plans: we do not refund part-months. Cancel and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Annual plans: if you cancel partway through a year, we will refund the unused whole months on request. We are not obliged to and many services do not, but keeping money for a service someone has stopped using is not a business we want to run.
- If we materially break something (an extended outage, or removing a feature your plan was sold on), ask us for a refund and we will give you one.
- Upgrades and downgrades are prorated automatically by Stripe. Downgrading below your current usage does not delete anything; see cancellation below.
No refunds where an account is terminated for breach of the Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
How to cancel
Go to your billing page and open the customer portal. Cancel there and it takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. No email, no phone call.
You can also update your card, download invoices and change plan in the same place.
What happens to your sites after you cancel
This is the part people most often ask about, so here it is in order:
- Until the end of your paid period: nothing changes. Everything keeps working.
- Then a 30-day grace period begins. Your sites all stay live. This is time to export what you need, consolidate down to the free plan's limit, or change your mind.
- 7 days before the grace period ends we email you a reminder saying exactly what will happen and which sites are affected, and a final reminder 1 day before.
- When the grace period ends, we keep your most recently created sites up to the free plan's limit of 1 and suspend the rest.
Suspended does not mean deleted. The files stay in storage, untouched. There is never anything to re-upload. Visitors see a notice page instead of the site.
Subscribing again restores your plan limits, so you can create and publish up to the new limit straight away. Lifting the suspension on the sites themselves is a manual step on our side: email support@upfling.host and we will switch them back on, same URLs and same content.
Every custom domain on the account is paused, not only those on the suspended sites. A custom domain is a paid feature, so one pointing at the site that stays live is paused too. Paused is not disconnected: the domain stays set up on our side and visitors see a notice page rather than an error.
Switching a paused domain back on is the same manual step as the sites. Mention the domains in the same email and we will do both together.
Sites you delete yourself are a different matter: those are moved to trash and permanently destroyed after 14 days, as described in the Privacy Policy.
If a payment fails
Stripe retries a failed payment several times over about two weeks and we email you each time so you can update your card. Your sites stay live throughout.
If it still has not gone through after the retries, the subscription ends and the same 30-day grace period above applies. Nothing is deleted because a card expired.
Questions and complaints
Billing questions go to support@upfling.host. We aim to reply within two working days.
If we cannot sort something out between us and you are a consumer, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme or contact Citizens Advice. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
Please talk to us before raising a chargeback with your bank. It costs us a fee on top of the disputed amount, and it is almost always something we would simply have refunded.
